From May 1, Etihad Airways will increase its services to Frankfurt, Germany. In 2022, Thailand received 11.15 million foreign visitors, an increase from 428,000 the previous year when pandemic-related travel restrictions were in effect. The figures reflect a solid turnaround as Thailand seeks to revive its tourism industry, which was battered by its strict entry and quarantine policies during the pandemic. Emirates has increased its service to Sydney and Melbourne as another step in resuming operations in Australia. Additionally, the airline will resume service to Christchurch, New Zealand via Sydney, offering Australians a new route across the Tasman. A resurgent Air India will announce a historic purchase of some 495 jets on Jan. 27, according to industry sources. Airbus will win an order for 235 single-aisle planes. Sources said the deal covers 425 single-aisle jets, including 235 Airbus A320neos and 190 Boeing 737 MAXs reported by Reuters last month. The US space agency NASA and aircraft manufacturer Boeing will collaborate on the development of a passenger aircraft that produces fewer emissions, NASA announced on Wednesday. As part of the agreement, NASA will invest $425 million over seven years to build, test, and fly a full-scale demonstrator aircraft, while Boeing and its partners will contribute the remaining funding, estimated at $725 million.
